Loop Poetry Project: Christian Women Pursuing Whole Hearts

In Loop Poetry Project, we are women writing poetry together for the purpose of wholeness. We want to uncover the deeper, hidden places in our hearts and participate in the healing God is offering us. We seek to tell stories of the inside out.

Twice a week, in a private Facebook group, I share poetry prompts. One of the prompts is often inspired by a blog post on topics of vulnerability, identity, memory, healing, authenticity, and conversations with God. A second prompt, at a different time during the week, is on a topic/word/theme, and these poems have the opportunity to be shared with some of the larger Loop for Women community on my personal social media.

Within the group (click here to join) I will also occasionally share poetry writing resources and inspiration, as well as offer motivation and encouragement. You are invited to share two poems a week, just to make sure there is lots of room for everyone to have a voice and no one poet is overwhelming the group.

This isn't necessarily a writing critique group, where we are going deep into poetic conventions and writing techniques (although I think that could be useful). Rather, Loop Poetry Project is a space sacred and safe, a place to trust your heart, having faith that Holy Spirit will guide us as we write and encourage each other to keep going, keep looking deeper, keep listening to His whispers and follow His leading as He prompts memory, guides processing, and brings forth revelation. I believe, through this process, we will never be the same.

  • The idea.

Poetry, I am finding, both the writing of it and the reading of it, helps us hear what our hearts don't otherwise know how to say.

  • The beginning.

What we will do: Write a story. Write a story of the heart. Mine. Yours. Let's not think too much. Let's let our hearts speak into a sacred room.

  • The waking up.

Don't we want to live fully awake? Putting pen to paper lifts us from apathy into action, submission to assertiveness. Friend, it is time to wake up.

  • The healing.

Let poetry help you to see the truth God has always wanted you to see. This is just one step with Him. You can trust Him to show you step two.

  • The mess.

Whatever the emotion is that you're feeling, don't ignore it. Attend to it. Let it do what it needs to do. Feel it. Let it speak. It is worth it now. I promise.

  • The surrender.

I don't want to censor it. Or control it. I want only to be a helper, a listener, a scribe. I want my heart to know it is the boss of me, not the other way around.

Join me in exploring what is hidden in our hearts.

Trust me, the process is surprising.

And good.

And so worth it.
